March Mission Madness
A parish wide mission to be the hands and feet of Christ by helping communities in North Carolina rebuild and recover.
The Mission
At the heart of March Mission Madness is our call to be the hands and feet of Christ. We are sent not only to rebuild homes, but to bring hope, dignity, and Christ’s light into places of devastation, allowing our own hearts to be transformed along the way.
2026 March Mission Madness
During March, our parish once again partnered with Spokes of Hope, an organization coordinating long-term recovery efforts in North Carolina. Our teams served in the Bat Cave and Gerton communities, helping families rebuild their homes in areas still deeply impacted and in need of continued support.
Thanks to the generosity of our parish, we were blessed to send more than double the number of volunteers who served last year. Men and women of the parish answered the call, and youth ages 12 to 18 participated alongside their parents and guardians. Together, as families and individuals, we made a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of those we served.
Each week, one of our parish priests, including Fr. Rosing, accompanied the group and celebrated daily Mass, grounding the work in prayer and the sacraments. This spiritual foundation strengthened not only the mission itself, but also the faith and unity of all who participated.
Below, you will find overviews of the projects completed and the volunteer experiences from each week, along with photos from all four of the mission.

Week 1
As part of March Mission Madness 2026, our Week 1 volunteers served in Hendersonville and downtown Chimney Rock, making a meaningful impact in communities still recovering and rebuilding.
The team was joined by Fr. Felix, who accompanied them throughout the week and provided spiritual support. Together, they cleared debris, completed concrete work, assisted a local store owner with repairs inside and outside her business, and helped with large community donation distributions. Their efforts not only restored property, but also brought hope and encouragement to those they served.
One highlight from the week is a photo of the team gathered on the stairs at the Spokes of Hope Base Camp. The doorway behind them leads into their home base, where they passed through a 50,000-square-foot warehouse each day on their way to the dining area. It stands as a powerful reminder of the scale of the mission and their dedication to serve.
Week 2
In Week 2 of March Mission Madness 2026, our volunteers continued serving in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, helping families affected by severe and life-threatening flooding.
Fr. Rosing joined the group, offering spiritual support and accompanying the team throughout their week of service. The volunteers worked on a variety of home repairs to restore safe and livable spaces for the families they served.
Projects included installing new flooring and even building a deck for one family. Through their dedication, the team made a tangible difference while supporting residents as they continued to rebuild their homes and their lives.
We are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside this community and to contribute to their ongoing story of hope.
Week 3
This week, our team was blessed to be accompanied by Fr. McCandless as clergy support, serving alongside our volunteers throughout the week. Together, they took on a wide variety of projects to support the ongoing recovery efforts, including painting, organizing the donation warehouse, assisting in the kitchen, and helping wherever there was a need. Their flexibility and willingness to serve made a meaningful impact for both the mission team and the local community.
One of the great strengths of this group was their readiness to step in and do whatever was asked of them. Whether behind the scenes or out in the community, their service reflected Christ’s call to love and serve others with generosity and joy.
As we prepare to send our final crew for the last week of March Mission Madness, we ask you to keep all of our volunteers in your prayers—especially for safe travels to and from the Spokes of Hope base camp in Chimney Rock, NC. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we remain the hands and feet of Christ for those in need!
Week 4
During the final week of March Mission Madness, a team of 14 volunteers joined additional helpers from Steubenville and a large Amish group from Lancaster, PA, fostering a spirit of unity and shared purpose.
As part of their mission experience, the team assisted a woman preparing her home for sale under financial strain, helping restore both her house and a sense of hope. They also visited a farm still bearing damage from tornadoes caused by Hurricane Helene 18 months ago, which served as a powerful reminder of the long road to recovery. Surrounded by both devastation and breathtaking natural beauty, the volunteers witnessed resilience firsthand. Above all, they experienced God’s hand at work, bringing peace, joy, and renewed hope to a community still healing.
This year, Holy Family had the privilege of partnering once again with Spokes of Hope, a community center dedicated to meeting the needs of communities in crisis. The parish is incredibly grateful to the volunteers who answered the call, bringing hands-on service and hope to the Gerton, Bat Cave, and Chimney Rock areas. Their dedication has made a tangible difference in the lives of so many, reflecting the love of Christ in action.
As the final team wraps up their mission and prepares for the journey home, they ask for continued prayers for safe travels and for the communities they have served.
We are deeply thankful for the support of our parish, which made this mission possible. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Christ!
